Scope of Work

In 2017 MMA was contracted directly by Chevron Australia to provide commissioning supports PSVs for the Wheatstone Projects.

The Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project is located 12 kilometres (km) west of Onslow on the Pilbara coast of Western Australia. The foundation project consists of two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), and a domestic gas plant with capacity for 200 terajoule per day. The project was sanctioned in late 2011, with first shipment of LNG announced in October 2017.

Offshore facilities gather and partially process gas and associated condensate and deliver it onshore for further processing. Key offshore components include:

  • well infrastructure and subsea installations
  • gas processing platform in 73 metres (m) of water
  • 225km trunkline transports gas from the platform to the onshore facilities at Ashburton North.

MMA deployed the MMA Brewster and MMA Leveque. Over 3 month period al three PSVs were on hire at various times to provide 24/7 logistical support. Primarily this support was for the Wheatstone platform hook up and commissioning works.

Works included supply operations, fuel loading and delivery, safety standby services, FRC operations, helicopter standby inside the 500m exclusion zone, emergency support and cargo supply runs.

The contract required MMA to operate the vessels within strict environment requirements unique to the Chevron Project.
