Scope of Work

In 2007, MMA was contracted by BHP Billiton to design and deliver a bespoke offtake support vessel. The Mermaid Cove has been on contract with BHP ever since and has proven to be one of MMA’s strongest performing marine assets in Australia.

With a reduction in offshore activity, MMA identified the vessel had capacity to service additional offshore facilities in the region. After extensive consultation with other operators in the region MMA was able to secure a vessel sharing contract with Quadrant Energy and BHP Billiton.

The innovative commercial and operational approach was not previously seen in the Australian market. It presented a win-win in the current environment for all involved, securing utilisation for MMA’s vessel whilst reducing operating costs for our clients.

MMA has a dedicated vessel scheduler who coordinates all cargo movements and port call arrangements. Regular weekly meetings are held between MMA, BHP and Quadrant personnel. The meetings cover HSE, past week, forward look ahead, technical issues, upcoming maintenance, leave coverage and other general information.
