MMA was approached by Grindrod’s contractor Subtech to design and supply a scour system that could be installed without shutting down the berth.

Project Overview

Grindrod’s Terminal de Carvão da Matola (TCM) operates a dry-bulk terminal in Mozambique which has an export throughput capacity of 7.5 million tonnes. Historically there has been limited inspection and maintenance that has resulted in undermining of the quay wall.

MMA's Solution

MMA was approached by Grindrod’s contractor Subtech to design and supply a scour system that could be installed without shutting down the berth. Design and supply of concrete mattresses fabricated on the quayside of the export facility. Fabrication rates of 150m2 per day were achieved. A technical supervisor was mobilised to assist with the installation of the mats using divers.
