Gorgon LNG Project - Gorgon DOMGAS Pipeline Installation Project

Our Experience

Summary

  • Contract:
    Gorgon DOMGAS Pipeline Installation
  • End Client:
    Chevron Australia
  • Vessels Deployed:
Mermaid Guardian and the Mermaid Discovery

Scope of Work

Chevron Australia contracted Sapura Clough to provide the transportation and installation of approximately 90 kilometres of 20 inch pipeline, both offshore and onshore, from Barrow Island to the Dampier Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline.

SapuraClough carried out the project management and installation engineering (including HSE, quality and quarantine management) from their headquarters in Perth. SapuraClough’s derrick pipe lay barge, Java Constructor, was utilised for pipeline installation together with Geocean’s shallow water laybarge, Kalinda.

SapuraClough contracted MMA to provide two tugs, one of which was used for project accommodation as well as barge handling.  The vessels supported operations of the Java Constructor, and conducted tows from Henderson to site and between Dampier and site.

An important aspect of this project was the management of the Gorgon quarantine requirements and ensuring all vessels complied with strict Gorgon upstream quarantine requirements. The MMA vessels utilised on this project were: Mermaid Guardian and the Mermaid Discovery (both were mobilised from Singapore).
