    MMA was contracted for the design, supply and transport of concrete mattresses for scour protection at the Hey River and Humbug River marine facilities.

Project Overview

The Amrun project includes the construction of a range of infrastructure required to support Bauxite mining and production including a processing plant and port near Boyd Bay, a dam, tailings storage facility, roads and a ferry terminal on the Hey River to transport workers from Weipa to the mine site. The Hey River and Humbug river facilities comprise berths and moorings for; RORO ferry, heavy mining equipment (HME) barges, and passenger ferries.

MMA Innovation / Value Added

Custom mattress types offered to suit profile of revetment, in particular at radii and abutting to wharf structures. Low cost solution of establishing Malaysian fabrication yard and breakbulk ship to site. • Stainless steel rope for increased design life in shallow water environments. Subcon added significant value by vertically integrating the supply chain and providing significant savings on the steel wire rope.
