MMA OFFSHORE AWARDED FIRST HIPP CONTRACT

MMA News

MMA Offshore is pleased to announce its first contract award as part of the Hydroscheme Industry Partnership Program (HIPP).

The HIPP is a partnership between Australia’s hydrographic industry and the Australian Government’s Department of Defence, with an aim of delivering an extensive program of nautical charting surveys in Australian Waters.

Under the contract, MMA’s survey team will collect bathymetry data in the Bonaparte Archipelago off the coast of Western Australia, approximately 180 nautical miles north east of Broome. The survey will commence in late September and will continue for a period of two to three months.

As non-exclusive native title rights exist within our survey area, MMA has engaged the Traditional Owners through the Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation in order to conduct the survey in a culturally responsible manner, with the Traditional Owners to join our team offshore during the project duration.

Commenting on the award, MMA Executive General Manager – Subsea Services, Tom Radic, said: “MMA is looking forward to working alongside the Australian Hydrographic Office and the Traditional Owners, in a model that showcases how Australian industry and Government can collaborate effectively to deliver world class nautical charting and survey services. This award extends our track record in the Government and Defence Industry, and we look forward to continue building upon this presence in the future.”
