Appointment of Ms Susan Murphy AO as a Non-Executive Director

The Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Susan (Sue) Murphy AO as a Non-Executive Director of MMA with effect from today, 30th April 2021.

Sue will join MMA as an independent director and will be appointed as Chair of the Company’s Audit & Risk Committee and as a member of the Nomination & Remuneration Committee.

Sue has over 40 years of experience in the resources and infrastructure industries. Holding a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Western Australia, Sue commenced as a Graduate Engineer with Clough Engineering in 1980. She went on to enjoy a 25-year career with Clough, progressing through a wide range of operational and leadership roles before being appointed to the Board of Clough Engineering Ltd in 1998.

After leaving Clough in 2004, she joined the Water Corporation of Western Australia as the General Manager of Planning and Infrastructure, before being appointed as Chief Executive Officer in 2008, a role she held for over a decade.

Sue has received many accolades throughout her career including being awarded the prestigious Sir John Holland Civil Engineer of the Year Award by the Board of the College of Civil Engineers and is an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia. She was recognised for her work in water infrastructure with the International Water Association’s 2014 Women in Water award and was the 2018/19 West Australian Business Leader of the Year at the AIM WA Pinnacle Awards. In 2019, Sue was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to the natural resources sector in Western Australia and to engineering.

Sue is currently a Director of Monadelphous Group Limited, the West Australian Treasury Corporation, Fremantle Dockers Football Club, UWA Business School and serves as a Senate Member of the University of Western Australia.

MMA’s Chairman, Mr Ian Macliver, said that he was very pleased to welcome Ms Sue Murphy AO to the Board.

Sue’s appointment further strengthens the Board’s diversity of skills, knowledge and experience and continues our orderly process of Board renewal”, Mr Macliver said.

Ms Murphy said that she was looking forward to joining the Board at such an important time for the Company.

Resignation of Ms Eva Alexandra (Eve) Howell as a Non-Executive Director

MMA advises that, as foreshadowed in its announcements in November 2020, its 2020 Notice of Meeting and during its 2020 Annual General Meeting, Ms Eve Howell would step down as a Non-Executive Director of the Company when a suitable replacement Non-Executive Director had been identified and appointed by the Company.

With the appointment of Ms Sue Murphy AO as a replacement Non-Executive Director, Ms Eve Howell will retire from the Board of Directors with effect from today, 30th April 2021.

Commenting on Eve’s retirement, MMA’s Chairman, Mr Macliver, said:

“I would like to thank Eve for the significant contribution she has made to MMA since joining the Board in 2012. Over her 9 years of service to the Board (three as Chair of the Company’s Audit & Risk Committee), Eve brought extensive experience in the oil and gas industry to the Board and has served MMA with great distinction, acting always in the best interests of the Company and its shareholders. Eve has been a mentor for many of the staff within the Company and has been instrumental in driving MMA’s current safety, risk management and diversity culture. I wish Eve all the very best as she steps down from her enviable career to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.”
