Offtake Support Vessel
MMA is Australia’s preeminent offtake support marine service provider in Australia. We have earnt this reputation over the years because of tireless effort spent refining our OSV operations and service offering.
In 2007 we set up an offtake R&D project focused on enhancing the design of offtake support vessels. The R&D work led to us being the first company to introduce a diesel electric offtake vessel in Australia (Mermaid Sound). The Sound was a purpose designed and built FPSO support vessel constructed in China. Post-delivery the vessel was chartered by Woodside to support North West Shelf operations in Australia. The vessel remains on hire to Woodside.
Based on the Sound’s success, the R&D project refined the vessel design and MMA constructed two more diesel electric OSVs; the Mermaid Strait in 2012 and Mermaid Cove in 2013. Both were immediately contracted and continue to service FPSO’s operating on the Carnarvon Basin.
In 2015 our R&D project team were responsible for developing the world’s first ever dual purpose PSV capable of supporting offtake and supply duties. MMA installed a bow winch on a traditional PSV (MMA Inscription) to enable static tow operations. The modified Inscription was chartered by ConocoPhillips and in 2016 MMA received a global supplier award from ConocoPhillips for innovation and service optimisation.
